Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has moved to calm concerns over the well-being of attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, following recent fainting episodes that kept him out of competitive action. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Kompany stressed that the club is relying on top medical expertise and that the player remains in close contact with the coaching staff.
What Happened with Musiala?
Musiala experienced fainting spells during two pre-season friendlies. The club later clarified that these incidents were linked to adjustments made to his medication. As a precaution, the 21-year-old has not featured for Bayern since the start of the competitive season, missing the German Super Cup, the Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart, and the DFB-Pokal first-round match against Osnabrück.
Kompany’s Assurance
Kompany declined to offer a running commentary on Musiala’s condition but emphasized that the decision to return him to action will be made with both sporting and medical considerations in mind.
“I won’t provide constant updates on his situation. We always have the best experts to help us, and Jamal is communicating with us very well,” said Kompany. “We will make the right decision from a sporting perspective. He needs to be able to play and perform well, and he has no issues in that regard. If it happens again, it won’t be a major concern for us.”
The coach also revealed that Musiala has completed a full week of training and is in good shape. “We have already determined how to manage him, and we’ll see what happens in today’s session before deciding what’s best for Jamal and the team,” Kompany added.
Gnabry Still Sidelined
In other team news, Kompany confirmed that winger Serge Gnabry remains out due to injury. The coach expects the German international to rejoin the squad sometime next week.
