Burning Man organizers have confirmed a second death at this year’s festival, which is currently underway in the Nevada desert. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 7, when 60-year-old Craigh Mann was found unresponsive in his camp at Black Rock City.
Details of the Incident
According to a statement from the festival, Mann was discovered at approximately 3 p.m. local time. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Organizers expressed their condolences, saying, “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the participant’s family, friends, campmates, and all those affected by this loss.”
The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over the area, has not yet responded to requests for comment.

This is the second fatality at the annual event, which draws roughly 70,000 attendees. Earlier in the week, a man in his mid-50s died after experiencing a medical emergency. Festival officials reported that he “immediately received lifesaving measures, and was transported to the onsite center for emergency care where he was pronounced deceased.” His name has not been released pending family notification.
