Anthropic has announced the launch of Docs and Slides for its Claude AI platform, allowing users to create, edit, and share documents and presentations directly through conversations. The move expands Claude’s productivity capabilities and broadens its competition with Google’s services.
Both tools are launching in beta. They allow users to create documents and presentations through any conversation with Claude, request additional edits from the assistant or make manual changes, and then export, edit, and share the files with others.
One Claude interface unifies tools
Alongside the launch of Docs and Slides, Anthropic announced a simplified Claude experience that merges traditional conversations and the Cowork tool into a unified interface called “One Claude.” This interface provides access to productivity and AI tools from any conversation.
The new interface also includes other features such as Artifacts and Claude Design, allowing users to take advantage of different tools without switching between separate applications.
Anthropic explained that Claude can now identify which tools a task requires and make Cowork and Design capabilities available from any conversation, while leveraging the user’s context, skills, and available connections.
Documents built for editing and collaboration
Claude documents can be edited privately and shared with other editors to work on simultaneously. Participants can also add comments similar to the commenting mechanism in Google Docs.
The platform allows access to content created by the user through Claude Design, Slides, and Docs via a single shareable link that can be opened on a phone.
These features make Claude a more integrated space for creating, editing, and collaborating on content, rather than being limited to generating text and answering questions.
Growing competition with Google tools
The launch of Docs and Slides comes as Google expands the integration of its Gemini assistant into its productivity applications, including Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Google had added features that allow users to interact with Gemini inside documents, create and edit complete documents, and prepare presentations using AI.
The new tools are expected to narrow the gap between Claude and Google’s productivity suite, known as Google Workspace, by allowing users to complete more tasks within a single conversation without needing to switch to other applications to create documents and presentations.
Availability starts with Pro and Max subscribers
Anthropic has begun rolling out the One Claude update to Pro and Max subscribers on the web, desktop, and mobile apps. The rollout will continue over the coming weeks before later becoming available to Team plan users and free account holders.
The company confirmed that the update does not require enabling additional settings, and users can continue to use Claude in their usual way.
