Barcelona delivered a dominant performance to secure a 7-0 victory over Santander, with Raphinha leading the charge by scoring a hat-trick. The Brazilian, who captained the side, found the net three times, including two penalties in the 25th and 42nd minutes, and completed his treble in the 67th minute.
The scoring was rounded out by Joao Cancelo, an own goal from Santander’s Asier Villalibre, Gabriel Jesus, and Lamine Yamal, with goals coming in the 8th, 36th, 79th and 89th minutes. Barcelona’s attacking momentum did not stop there, as Yamal missed a penalty in the 45th minute, and a goal by the young Spaniard was disallowed for offside in the 72nd minute.
Santander managed to pull two goals back through Magit Gueye and Yasser Zabiri in the 30th and 65th minutes, but it was not enough to disrupt Barcelona’s control of the match.
With this win, Barcelona have now scored 33 goals in seven matches across all competitions, following their 5-1 victory over Feyenoord in the Champions League. The Catalan club, defending champions for the past two seasons, sit alone at the top of the table with 18 points from a perfect start, three points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid. Santander, newly promoted this season, remain on 7 points in tenth place.
