Hamza Abdel Karim has expressed his delight after signing a new contract with Barcelona, describing the move as a dream come true and thanking the club’s supporters for their backing.
A Dream Realized
In a video shared by Barcelona’s official account on X, Abdel Karim said: “I have an amazing feeling, I am proud of this step, and I cannot wait to continue playing in the shirt of this historic club.”
The 18-year-old forward added: “Playing for Barcelona is a dream come true, and my family feels proud that I have signed a new contract with the club.”
Adapting to Barcelona’s Style
Abdel Karim continued: “Barcelona has a unique style of play, and they have maintained it for years. I am trying to learn to adapt to it.”
The former Al Ahly striker also praised Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick, saying: “He is a wonderful coach, and he always supports me. I also find great support from my teammates every day to be better, and that is very important.”
Ambitions and Gratitude
The young player concluded his remarks: “I aspire to write history with Barcelona and help the team as much as possible. I am happy with the support of the Barcelona fans, and I hope to contribute to making them happy.”
From Loan to Permanent Deal
Hamza Abdel Karim joined Barcelona in February on loan from Al Ahly and began his journey with the club’s youth team. After being promoted to the first team, he impressed during pre-season, becoming Barcelona’s top scorer in friendly matches with four goals, taking advantage of the absence of first-team stars who were resting after participating in the World Cup.
Barcelona then activated the purchase option for Abdel Karim, making the deal permanent until 2029, before signing a new contract with him to raise his release clause from 15 million euros to 120 million euros, according to Spanish media reports.
Abdel Karim has been included in Barcelona’s squad for the first six matches of this season and came on as a late substitute in the La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano on August 31.
