The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has officially extended the contract of head coach Hossam Hassan until 2030, securing the long-term leadership of the national team after a historic period under his guidance.

The EFA announced the renewal following a board meeting, stating that the decision was made to continue with Hassan and his technical staff. The association had earlier approved the extension in July and formed a committee to review the new contract’s terms, duration, and personal clauses.
Hassan, 60, had been working without a formal contract since February 2026, alongside his brother Ibrahim Hassan, who serves as the team’s director. The new agreement resolves this situation and ensures stability for the coaching staff.
Historic Achievements Under Hassan
Hassan took charge of the national team in February 2024 and led Egypt to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ending an eight-year absence from the tournament. He became the first Egyptian to participate in the World Cup as both a player and a coach.
During the World Cup, Egypt achieved its first-ever win in the competition by defeating New Zealand in the group stage. The team also drew with Belgium and Iran, advancing to the knockout rounds for the first time in their history. In the Round of 32, Egypt beat Australia on penalties before facing Argentina in the Round of 16, where they narrowly lost 3-2 after leading 2-0 until the 79th minute.

Under Hassan’s leadership, Egypt has won 20 matches, drawn 9, and lost 6. The team also reached the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
