Egypt’s medal tally at the Mediterranean Games has climbed to 36, following a series of strong performances in table tennis and judo. The latest additions include a silver in mixed doubles table tennis and two bronze medals in judo.
Table Tennis: Silver in Mixed Doubles
The Egyptian duo Omar Assar and Hana Goda secured the silver medal in mixed doubles table tennis after a hard-fought final against Turkey’s duo Yigenler and Harak. The match ended 2-3, with the Turkish pair winning the decisive fifth game 11-5. The game scores were 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 9-11, and 11-5 in favor of Turkey.
Assar and Goda had advanced to the final with a series of victories:
- Round of 16: defeated Greece 3-2
- Quarterfinals: defeated Slovenia 3-2
- Semifinals: defeated France 3-1
Judo: Two Bronze Medals
In judo, Safa Soliman won the bronze medal in the over-78 kg category by defeating Tunisia’s Sawar Al-Dhawadi 12-0 in the third-place match.
Hady Hussein also claimed bronze in the over-100 kg category, defeating Croatia’s Mikita Svirid by ippon in the third-place contest.
