In a recent appearance on a popular Christian podcast, Vice President JD Vance offered a candid perspective on artificial intelligence, the possibility of living in the end times, and the role of faith in his public life. The conversation, hosted by Bryce Crawford, touched on topics ranging from the spiritual implications of technology to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Vance’s Views on the End Times and the Antichrist
When asked whether he believes the world is approaching the end times, Vance acknowledged uncertainty but did not dismiss the idea. He stated that he would not be “shocked” if the Antichrist were walking among us, yet he emphasized the importance of focusing on daily responsibilities rather than becoming consumed by apocalyptic speculation.
“I think that there are things about the world that make me feel not shocked if the Antichrist was walking among us,” Vance said. He added that his spiritual focus remains on doing God’s work now, and if that leads to the end times, so be it.
AI and Its Spiritual Dangers
Vance, who has supported the expansion of data centers for AI development, expressed concerns about certain uses of the technology. He described some applications as carrying a “really, really weird spiritual dark energy,” particularly when AI replaces human interaction in areas like marriage counseling.
Referring to a friend whose spouse used AI for counseling, Vance said, “There’s no real human feedback. It sort of short circuits that social part of our brain where we respond to other people’s wants and needs. I think that’s kind of satanic.”
Personal Faith and Doubt
Asked to rate his chances of entering heaven on a scale of 1 to 10, Vance offered a humble estimate of seven or eight, noting that he always carries some doubts. He contrasted this with his answer a year ago, which would have been a five or six.
Evidence of the Spiritual World
When Crawford asked if Vance had encountered proof of the spiritual realm since becoming vice president, Vance admitted he had no definitive evidence. He joked that he lacks a “top secret file” proving whether UFOs are demons or something else.
However, Vance pointed to the survival of Donald Trump in the 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania, assassination attempt as a moment he views through a spiritual lens. He described the timing of Trump turning his head as a “crazy coincidence” but argued that such coincidences “don’t happen without the hand of providence.”
Had Trump not survived, Vance said he would have assumed “very dark forces” were responsible, casting illegitimacy over the political system.
Defending Trump’s AI Jesus Post
Crawford also raised Trump’s controversial social media post featuring an AI-generated image of Trump as Jesus. Vance defended the former president, explaining that Trump did not intend to mock God and often uses humor to keep things light.
“He’s a bit of a ballbuster,” Vance said. “He just likes to have a good time. He’s not trying to offend people.”
