Apple has officially launched the AirPods 5, bringing a host of upgrades to its entry-level wireless earbuds. The new model features advanced active noise cancellation (ANC), a redesigned acoustic architecture, and improved sound quality, aiming to deliver a richer listening experience for a broader range of users.

The AirPods 5 incorporate a multi-port acoustic structure alongside the latest generation of adaptive equalization. This combination ensures more detailed and immersive audio, adapting to the unique shape of each user’s ear. Additionally, the earbuds support personalized spatial audio, creating a dynamic and enveloping soundstage that enhances music, movies, and calls.

Superior Active Noise Cancellation

One of the standout features of the AirPods 5 is the upgraded active noise cancellation. Apple states that the new ANC reduces ambient noise by up to 50% more than the AirPods 4 with ANC, thanks to the refined acoustic design and improved computational audio algorithms. This makes the AirPods 5 particularly effective in noisy environments like public transit or busy offices.

Transparency and Adaptive Audio Modes

The transparency mode has also been refined to provide a more natural representation of surrounding sounds, allowing users to stay aware of their environment without removing the earbuds. The adaptive audio feature dynamically blends ANC and transparency based on real-time conditions, while conversation awareness automatically lowers media volume when the user starts speaking, ensuring seamless interactions.

Hands-Free Controls and Siri Integration

AirPods 5 introduce head gesture controls for Siri, enabling users to respond to notifications or calls with a simple nod or shake of the head—no need to touch the earbuds. This hands-free functionality adds convenience for users on the go.

Wireless Charging Case Version and Battery Life

Apple is offering two versions of the AirPods 5: a standard model and a premium variant with a wireless charging case. The latter adds a force sensor on the stem, allowing users to control volume by swiping up or down. This version also extends battery life to 5 hours of listening time with ANC enabled on a single charge—one hour more than the AirPods 4 with ANC. Combined with the charging case, total listening time reaches 22 hours.

Pricing and Availability

The AirPods 5 are priced at AED 539, while the version with the wireless charging case costs AED 629. Pre-orders begin today, with availability in stores starting Friday, September 18.
