Barcelona’s young Egyptian forward, Hamza Abdel Karim, has made his first official appearance for the Catalan club. The 18-year-old came on as a substitute in the 86th minute, replacing Brazilian winger Raphinha, during Barcelona’s emphatic 5-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou.
A Dream Realized
Speaking to Catalan network TV3 after the match, Abdel Karim expressed his joy and ambition. “I am very happy with my first appearance, and I hope to get more opportunities to play in matches,” he said. The young forward also described the electrifying atmosphere of his debut: “There was a huge crowd, and I was very excited to play. It was a very strong feeling, and I want to experience this many more times. I hope to help the team as much as possible and win everything.”

Abdel Karim took time to commend his attacking colleagues, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. About the Brazilian, he noted, “He is a wonderful person, and everyone knows he always gives his best, no matter what position he plays.” Regarding the teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Abdel Karim described him as “a player with magic in his feet,” adding that “he plays for the team and the fans.”
Permanent Move Secured
Barcelona had announced in June that they activated the purchase option for Abdel Karim from Egyptian club Al Hilal, making the young striker a permanent member of the Catalan side. He initially joined Barcelona during the winter transfer window and spent the latter part of the season with the club’s second team, where he delivered impressive performances since his debut.
