These initiatives span data centers, cloud services, tech localization, and research and development, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global hub for digital infrastructure and advanced technologies.
Major Data Center Investments
Leading the day’s announcements, Al Moammar Information Systems (MIS) committed $1.2 billion to expand its data center footprint in the Kingdom. This investment aims to boost operational capacity to a total of 192 megawatts, addressing the growing demand for computing and artificial intelligence services.
In parallel, NHC Innovation unveiled plans to develop data centers in Wadi Khuzam Digital Valley, with a $880 million investment. The project is designed to provide integrated, scalable digital infrastructure, targeting 65 megawatts of capacity by 2033.
Global Connectivity and Cloud Expansion
Saudi investment also extended to international markets. Vision Invest, alongside the Africa Finance Corporation, is leading a $300 million strategic investment in WIOCC. This move supports the expansion of digital infrastructure in Africa, enhancing connectivity and digital services across the continent.
In the cloud sector, Mobily and BytePlus announced a joint investment exceeding $150 million to launch BytePlus cloud services in Saudi Arabia. This partnership aims to broaden the range of advanced solutions available to businesses and enterprises in the region.
Localization and Innovation Initiatives
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) revealed an expansion of its ‘Made in Saudi’ program, shifting from hardware localization to comprehensive tech solutions. Additionally, HPE launched the Saudi Innovation Center in collaboration with Intel, designed to support startups and national talent in artificial intelligence fields.
R&D and Future-Ready Networks
Nokia announced the opening of its first research and development center in Saudi Arabia. This facility will accelerate the development of AI-driven network automation technologies and enhance research capabilities in advanced communications solutions.
